What is hot in 2010? We are starting to get our blast from the past……re-visiting the rockin’ 80s. Back to the leggings, but to add the 2010 twist, the leggings are stretch leather or even full of sequins. Sport your leggings with some boots that are thigh high. You can even go out and buy a pair of “Pretty Woman” boots and walk down the street with your head held high! I personally like the leather over-the-knee boot (those “pretty Woman” ones!) that looks great with a short, fun dress, but can also be toned down with a pair of skinny jeans and a tee. But also feel free to wear clunky, strappy boots that lace up from heel to thigh….how edgy!!

Ripped, shredded and destroyed is the way to be wearing your denim this season. Not as far back as the 80s leggings go, but as some of us remember seeing in the 90s grunge era, the trashed jeans are back!! Jeans, short and skirts in all the different washes and all the different torn looks. Don’t be afraid of the acid washed, torn up jeans that looks like they got their butt kicked by a bottle of Clorox. Whether they are slightly worn with a cute little rip at the knee or shredded up and down the leg….ROCK ‘EM!

Capes (not like Superman’s), Cloaks, Shawls, and Wraps are also huge for the 2010 winter fashion season, but not quite my thing. A cape can be considered anything opening in the front with no definite sleeves, just little cuts for your arms. Wear your cape in any length that is comfy and pin it closed around the neck with a funky, flashy broach.. A cloak will be found in a variety of prints. I suggest getting a versatile black and white plaid print and wear it while strutting down the street in those boots. Shawls you will find in anything from a thin cotton, to a thick, chunky knit. Also, since it isn’t that warm out, don’t forget to get your military style jacket. You can’t go wrong with this jacket in bright red with fun gold buttons. Wear it with your torn up jeans or a pair of dress pants.

On a more formal note, match your wrap up with an asymmetric dress. Dresses that are slim fitted or dresses that are full of ruffles can be found at your local mall. Might remind you a bit of Madonna from back in the day, but make sure your dress has a fun big bow or a flower on the sleeve. You can wear this dress with a high 4 inch strappy heel. If your dress is black, don’t look like you are attending a funeral…….add pizazz to it with some colored shoes.
