Fashion Week
Recap by Christine Tarlecki

Ahh Fashion Week- it’s over yet we still have the fuzzy glow. It is a truly great time, where I am ON the whole week. I don’t need drugs, I don’t need cigs, I don’t need (too much FREE booze) but I will say it is great fun and totally exhausting. The hotel bed was quite comfy, but I have to have my essentials with me or else I am a mess. I also got some new faves this year. Being my 4th season of Fashion Week, I am getting to be old hand at this, but it is no less exciting.

And it doesn’t matter – when they pull the plastic off the runway, it goes pitch black, then the next thing you know a supa-skinny model is striding down the runway in ultra-bright lights to a rockin’ tune, I get the biggest smile on my face. And seeing the 2010 Fall Collections before anyone else is amazing too!

This has been one of the greatest Fashion Weeks I have ever attended I saw many great shows including: Carolina Herrera, Richie Rich, Pamella Roland, Luca Luca, Thuy, Diane Von Furstenberg and Michael Kors, Narciso Rodriguez, and the QVC Live Show.

This year, I saw draped lots of loose-flowing easy-to-wear outfits in grey, camel, tan, black, and beige. I loved the fall dresses, flowing, sexy creations in merlot, jade and topaz.

I got to chat up the ever-amazing designer Pamella Roland backstage at the QVC show, as well as super-cool stylist and designer Lori Goldstein. The QVC show was the last show I saw in the Tents, as this is the last year Bryant Park will be hosting, and next year it will be at Lincoln Center.

I hit up some of these shows with supermodel and PR guru Debbie Dickinson, Chicago-based handbag designer Christopher Augmon (www.augmon.com) and Philly-turned-New York clothing designers Liz and Laura Rymar of the label ellelauri (www.ellelauri.com), where we had a great time!

So, to get thru all this, I have my trusty dependables, all toted about in my oh-so-cool patchwork Lucky bag.

Flats. Can’t wear heels all the time, so I got these great black buckle flats to bop around in.

Lip Gloss/ Balm. I talk. A LOT. I’m interviewing people left and right, and I tend to get chapped lips occasionally. I am a fan of MISSION Skincare’s Organic Strawberry Lip Balm. They have a new gloss line- I got to try their 2-in-1 Strawberry Pomegranate Ultra-Gloss which is fantastic. MISSION also has a High-Performance Anti-Friction Cream that is for chafing when you run, but I use it on my heels when I have a lot of ground to cover. It’s good stuff.   www.missionskincare.com/

Sunglasses. To cut down on the glare of the paparazzi. Duh. (I actually was photographed on the red carpet. I worked it, but prayed there was no lipstick on my teeth and my hair wasn’t sticking up. I think I was good.)

Makeup. Eyeliner from Boyds.com is wonderful, as is Bare Escentuals powder and eye shadow and mascara. http://boydsnyc.com/ and http://bareescentuals.com/

And I always have my camera, tape recorder, notebook and pen. And the tents supply water, champagne and new Starbucks 100 Frappacinos.

So, until the spring collections in the Fall, I will report back then! And also, stay tuned for more from Philly Fashion Week, coming this fall as well!
