FOR WOMEN (or men- if you’re into that.)

I’m not a cosmetologist, but I am a woman. And as all women do, I’ve acquired a list of my favorite make-up tips, and added them into my regimen over the years. They’re tried and true, and I’d be happy to share them.
SKIN
- To cover up dark under-eye circles, use a lighter concealer and dab underneath your eye a couple times. In a circular motion, blend into skin with your pinky finger.
- Liquid foundation is OUT. Go out and get mineral powder foundation- almost every cosmetic line makes it now. Bare Escentuals makes bareMinerals- best investment I’ve ever made. The difference is breathtaking.
- Be creative. If you’re out of bronzer, brown eye shadow works well, as long as you blend it thoroughly. I’m a big fan of using lipstick to rosy up my cheeks- it gives me color and also a little glow that won’t happen with a powder blush.
- A very important tool to have is a big-ass makeup brush. It’s great to use if you plan on bronzing/powdering your whole face, and gives you a more even-toned look.
EYES
- If you don’t have an eyelash curler, get one. Remember not to clamp too long in the same place and only clamp the bottom half to avoid giving yourself a weird, sharp crease (I’ve seen it. Not cute.)
- For a deeper, more sophisticated, dramatic look- dust eyes in a light/medium shade of your chosen shadow color, and apply the darker shade along the crease of your eyelid (top of the eye ball). For a more natural, yet dramatic day-time look, try bronzer there.
- Blondes should avoid black eye liner (unless you’re going for high-school trashy). A dark brown will be softer, accenting your eyes without looking like you tried and failed.
- Avoid using shadows that are the same color as your eyes. It will make you look tired. Almay has a great collection of eye-color enhancing make up.
- For a wider, lively-eyed look, dab a lighter shade of eye shadow on the inner corners of each eye. I like to use a light concealer on occasion.
- Do not pump your mascara brush. Instead, twist it from the bottom to collect more mascara. Pumping it will trap air inside and dry it out and then you gotta go spend $13 on a new one sooner than you should.
- For those who like to look like Barbie (like me), the most essential item to have is a thickening, lengthening MASCARA. Even if you apply nothing else the the rest of your face, a thick layer of mascara on the top and bottom lash will make you look naturally hot. My personal fave is Colosal Volum’ Express, by Maybelline
LIPS
- If you leave the house with one other item other than your mascara, it MUST BE a clear lip-gloss. I prefer to have a clear lip-PLUMPER at all times. I don’t care what you say, or how big you think your lips already are- the bigger the better. My go-to plumper is LipFusionXL, which I always get at Sephora.
- To accentuate a great tan, dab a TINY bit of concealer on your lips before applying a top coat of clear gloss. I don’t know why, but it’s hot- just try it. You won’t be disappointed. (Warning: DO NOT try if you are pale. Looks horrible.)
-Obviously, if you’re going to use a lip-liner, make sure it CLOSELY matches the shade of lipstick/gloss you’ll be wearing. If you don’t live in the ghetto, there is no reason you should look like you do.
Feel free to leave a comment with any of your favorite tips and tricks, ladies!!

So, I took your advice on the make-up…. I seriously went out and bought the starter-kit for Escentuals Bare Minerals make-up, bought the lip-plumper, AND the mascara. BEST DECISION OF MY MAKE-UP LIFE. My other make-up was just cheap and not cutting it (CVS make-up). It actually made me break-out more. This makeup evens the skin tone on my face and covers the flaws well without making it look like i piled it on or anything–which I dont have to do by the way. The mascara, sexy as hell. I’ve tried so many other kinds (even that purple “Sexy” mascara, which sucks ass). The lip plumper too was a fantastic purchase as well. All around great recommendations and I am so glad I took the advice!
