Spotted Dick
8 oz self-raising flour
1 pn of salt
4 oz margarine
2 oz castor sugar (superfine)
4 oz to 6 oz sultanas (big -raisins)
6 tb water
1) Have ready a sheet of foil or a double thickness of grease proof paper brushed with melted margarine.
2) Make the pudding crust: Sieve the flour and the salt. Rub in the margarine. Add the sugar and sultanas. Mix in the water to make a soft dough.
3) Turn out onto a floured board and form into a roll.
4) Wrap loosely but securely in the grease proof paper or foil. Tie or seal the ends.
5) Place in the steamer and cover tightly. Steam for 1.1/2 to 2 hours.
6) Serve with hot custard sauce or sprinkle with castor sugar. Variation: At stage 3: Put the mixture in a medium-sized (1.1/2 pint) pudding basin with a round of grease proof paper in the bottom and brush all round inside with melted margarine. Smooth the top. Cover with foil, or double grease proof paper brushed underneath with melted margarine and steam for 1.1/2 to 2 hours. Serve with hot Custard sauce or sprinkle with castor sugar.
Armadillo Balls
6-8 jalapeno peppers
8 oz. monterey jack cheese, grated
1/2 lb. hot pork sausage
5 oz. Bisquick
1 pkg. pork “shake ‘n bake”
1 egg, beaten
Split peppers. Remove seeds. Stuff inside of pepper with monterey jack cheese. Combine cheese, sausage and bisquick. Wrap dough around pepper. Roll in beaten egg. Roll in shake ‘n bake. Bake at 325 for 20-25 minutes.
Harvey Wallbanger Cake
1 orange cake mix (18.25 oz) (or yellow)
3 oz. pkg. vanilla pudding
4 eggs
3/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup Gailliano Liqueur
1/2 cup cooking oil
2 Tbs. vodka
In a large mixing bowl, combine cake mix and dry pudding; add eggs, oil, juice and liqueurs. Beat on low speed for 1 minute, then beat on medium speed for 5 minutes, scraping the bowl frequently. Pour into a greased and floured 10″ tube pan or angel food cake pan. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
Garbage
10-12 med potatoes, thin sliced
1 lb lean ground beef
1 med. onion chopped
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp chili powder
black pepper
2 (15.5 oz.) cans chili beans w/sauce
2 (10.5 oz.) cans cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk
2 Tbs oleo or butter
Preheat oven to 350°.
Grease or spray a 9×13 baking pan.
Slice potatoes and place them in a bowl of cold water.
In a skillet brown ground beef half way, drain.
Add onion, garlic powder and chili powder, finish browning meat.
Stir in beans, soup and milk. Continue heating and stirring until hot all the way through.
Place a layer of potatoes in baking pan, season lightly with pepper, then cover with a layer of meat and bean mixture.
Alternate layers until the pan is full, ending with a layer of potatoes.
Dot with oleo or butter. Cover with foil, place on a cookie sheet in oven
And bake for two hours or until potatoes are tender all through the dish.
Bubble & Squeak
chopped up leftover smoked shoulder (pork)
chopped up leftover boiled cabbage
chopped up leftover potatoes
chopped up leftover carrots
Place ingredients in hot frypan and fry up this mess until it is nice and browned. Serve with bread and butter and pickled beets.
FAT LADIES
1 tube refrigerator chocolate chip cookie dough
1 bag chocolate chips
1 14 oz. bag of caramels
2 Tbs. whipping cream
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
Flatten cookie dough in the bottom of a cookie sheet. Bake 8 minutes at 350°F or until just a very light brown.
While cookie is warm, top with chocolate chips. Melt caramels with whipping cream and pour over top of cookie dough and chocolate chips. Top with pecans.
Chunky Cat Barf
1 large spaghetti squash
8 ounces cottage cheese (I like large curd)
16 ounces mozzarella cheese, grated
8 ounces parmesan cheese, grated
1 quart spaghetti sauce (with green peppers
Cook squash. Fork out insides into a large casserole dish (remove & discard seeds).
Add cottage cheese, 1/2 of the mozzarella and parmesan cheese, and all the sauce.
Mix until it looks like its name (barf).
Top with the remaining cheese and bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
Dried Frog Pills
frogs
1 egg white
1/8 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon rum extract
1 teaspoon green food coloring
Whisk egg white until stiff.
Gradually beat in the sugar.
Sift in the cinnamon. Add rum flavoring and food coloring and mix well. Roll the mixture into pea-sized balls and set on waxed paper for 8 hours to set.
Dump Cake
2 (15 oz) cans peaches, chopped (do not drain)
1 box cake mix, white or yellow (18.25 oz)
1 stick of butter or margarine, cut into pieces
In a 9X13 ungreased pan, place chopped peaches and its juice. Pour dry cake mix evenly over top of the fruit. Do not stir. Place butter pieces all over the top of cake mix. Bake at 350 for 35-45 minutes or until golden brown on top.
Notes: Any fruit can be substituted.
Penicillin Pizza
6 English muffins
1 jar pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
yellow food coloring
green food coloring
red food coloring
Split muffins and place on an ungreased cookie sheet, making sure they don’t touch.
Spoon a thin layer of sauce on top then cover the sauce with a layer of shredded cheese.
Set aside.
Pour the Parmesan into a small bowl and add five drops each yellow, red and green food coloring until it’s an even shade of mold green.
(Use plastic bag to prevent your fingers from staining.) Set aside.
With an adult’s help, broil the pizzas until the cheese has melted and begun to brown.
Remove from oven and let cool about 1 minute.
Carefully sprinkle mold on top of hot pizzas.
Allow pies to cool slightly before you slip on a lab coat and serve.
