In all my 34 wise years of life I have never been to a Popeye’s Fried Chicken. That is until my wife came home tonight and wanted to go. We don’t really eat fast food, especially fried chicken, but fast food tastes good and I love marketing.

This place is very easy to find. It’s on the corner of City Line Ave / Haverford Ave and it is super bright and inviting. It was empty other then a family of 4 sitting down. I was surprised by how small it was inside. Only a few tables. I really never saw a fast food spot with such a small seating area.

The people behind the counter were nice. We ordered the 8 piece with a side of mac/cheese and 4 biscuits. We were out in under 3 minutes. Scary…god damn scary to order, pay and leave with food in 3 minutes.

This stuff is good…almost a little too good. I am not a fried chicken person. I haven’t tried all different kinds but I enjoyed the batter/breading, whatever you want to call it. I could not stop eating it. I honestly felt like a robot. Total lose of control and by the time it was done I felt pretty horrible. Amazing stuff but I felt depressed, sleepy and mildly angry when I was done.

I don’t think I will be going back to Popeye’s not because the food was bad, or the service was bad but because I’m scared of what might happen afterward.

I lived in Chicago for 3 years. There was a Popeye’s right where I got off the train to go home everyday. When I was broke I could get a 5 piece wing, biscuit and a coke for about $4. That was scary. But sooo good.
