The “Slowing Down Of” Political Progress

Ms. vs Mr.

I really need to start keeping up with more of what goes on in Washington, because when I don’t, I’m apparently one of the last to learn about incidents like this gem…

Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that during a weekly strategy session at the White House last summer, Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel lashed out at representitives of special interest liberal groups. I guess these guys were planning on launching ads against Democrats who don’t support Obama’s health care reform. Which is nice of them, but not very smart at the same time being that the people they’d be attacking would be needed for supportive votes on other shit in the future. So Emanuel, I guess, gets frustrated because like- no shit, Sherlock- and calls the plan to run ads “fucking retarded.” …Now that is GOLDEN. Let’s discuss.

First of all, that shit IS fucking retarded and everyone knows it. In fact, interestingly enough- the Wall Street Journal, the most respected source of publication in the country, did not publish an article about how the Chief-of-Staff dropped the “R-bomb”. It was merely mentioned in an article, in reference to the debate over Obama’s non-supporters. But, of course, no one wants to talk about that because Rahm Emanuel just used the term “fucking retarded.” Forget how the liberals are about to fuck the Democrats over as a whole- Rahm Emanuel just used the term “FUCKING RETARDED.” Oh, snippety snap!!!

So now, of course, every self-righteous, whiney asshole in the country has a reason to squawk. Naturally, squawking the loudest are people like the CEO of the Special Olympics, and Sarah Palin, who has a son with Down Syndrome, and basically everyone who is personally offended by the word “retard”. Ever notice, however, how most of these people are not actually mentally challenged themselves? They are just speaking in defense of those who can’t speak for themselves. Honestly, I bet if retarded people could speak for themselves, they really wouldn’t give a shit. That would be like someone making fun of me for being blonde. I can’t help that I was born blonde, but it doesn’t make me less of a person. You can call me dumb all day- I don’t care. Regardless, unfortunately, everyone has something to fucking say about it.

Omg. Seriously- I hate people. Especially Sarah Palin. She just HAD to put her two cents in. She says the “r-word” is like the “n-word.” No, bitch. No, it’s not. The N-word is a derogatory term for a black person, which is used with malicious intent. Retarded is retarded is retarded. I’m sorry that your son has DS, Palin, I really am. I pray that he is able to overcome as many challenges as possible and live the happy and beautiful life he is entirely capable of living. Maybe you could help that along if you stopped trying to rule the world and spent some more fucking time with the kid. In that hour it took you to figure out how to actually use Facebook, and then blast Emanuel for having freedom of speech, you could’ve used some flash cards with your son to exercise his brain a little bit.

So, anyway- due to all the horseshit backlash, Emanuel knew he wasn’t gonna get away with this one, so he publically apologized. And now all the assholes are like “Damn right! You better be sorry!” Yo… We all know that’s dude’s not sorry. Why do you people want a fake apology? To make yourselves feel validated, that’s why. Good for you. Why don’t you go apologize to your retarded loved ones for announcing to the entire world that they’re retarded? Mind your fucking business and let the man say what he wants to say. Were you there? Was he talking to you? Was he talking to your brother in Special Ed? No. So shut the fuck up. It wasn’t even in reference to a person- he was refering to a really bad idea. AND GUESS WHAT! The word “retard” is in the dictionary, and it means “a slowing down of.” How about that stupid-ass plan to attack lawmakers who don’t support health care reform, is a “FUCKING SLOWING DOWN OF” Democratic progress? I mean, let’s call a spade a spade here.

Now, before you go losing your shit on me, please know that I do believe in respect. Therefore, I think we, as decent human beings, should not use terms like that so loosely because it’s disrespectful. Using the term “fat”, or “ugly” to describe someone is disrespectful, even if they’re the spitting image of Kathy Bates. You should be careful not to hurt other people’s feelings because it’s the right thing to do. And in the position that Rahm Emanuel holds, he should know better than to say something like that. He probably got caught up in the moment, which he sure as hell should’ve been, and let his inner “not-give-a-fuck” come out. We all do it. It would just be really nice to see America concentrate on the betterment of the living conditions in our country, and all of the factors contributing to it, instead of being so anal over the words people use when trying to achieve that.
