Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Guide

This & That

OK, all you procrastinators out there- Father’s Day is in less than 3 days!! (June 20) I’ve put together a list for you guys of quick, easy, and not-too-pricey gift ideas:

Pretty much all dads have a favorite sport. If it happens to be baseball, luckily, tickets are generally pretty cheap. You can purchase them online at ticketsnow.com for less than $20. Now, where there’s a favorite sport, there’s a favorite team. Sports Authority and Bob’s Sporting Goods are just a couple of examples of great places to find pretty inexpensive team clothing and/or other cool stuff like team-themed lawn chairs, blankets, calendars, etc. Some online fan-gear stores with the best sales and specials include eastbay.com, footballfanatics.com,  and fansedge.com.

Customized coffee cups/travel mugs are always a safe bet for any occasion, especially Father’s Day. You can find cool ones in most gift shops (Hallmark, Spencer’s, etc.), or if you decide to order online, check out discountmugs.com for a huge variety of logo mugs for under $5! You can also customize your own mug with pretty much any text or picture for like $15-$20 at this website.

Dads aren’t usually into pictures in frames, unless it would be for their desk at the office, but that doesn’t mean they don’t like pictures! You always see dads flaunting wallet pics of the wife and kids. At places like CVS or Walgreen’s, you can bring in a photo of your choice and print it out in any size, either at the customer service desk, or right from the in-store photo printing machine. You can get 50 free prints at CVSphoto.com just for registering with the site!

One of my favorite gift ideas is to create what I call an “essentials basket”, and all you need to do is go to your local drug store with $20 or $30. Grab dad some deodorant, a nice razor, some aftershave, some men’s hair-care products, maybe a toothbrush- you know, the essentials! Buy a cool gift bag to hold it all, and voila! It’s not that expensive, it’s quick, it’s easy and it’s super useful.

You can’t go wrong with a tie, even if your dad doesn’t usually wear one. At some point, he’s going to have to. There are so many routes you can take when tie-shopping, too! There are funny ties, patterned ties, solid ties, logo ties- pretty much anything you can think of can be found on a tie. (Looking for a really nice one? Dennis Buchanan, creator of the Dennis Buchanan Collection, is a good friend of ours here at Gimme This and That because we LOVE his collections of gorgeous, upscale, high quality ties. Check out his website!)

Everyone likes music, so find out what your dad listens to. I usually just head over to Wal-Mart for some great deals on CD’s. Or, if I happen to have some blank ones around, I’ll burn a mix from my computer- an awesome gift for free!

Father’s Day is for ALL the fathers in your life-  great dads deserve a great gift… And don’t forget the card!!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! :)
