No one knows the exact number, but it is estimated that *6%-7% of teenagers in America are homeless (that’s about 1 – 1.5 million kids). The adolescent years are hard enough- you worry about your grades, your friends, your boyfriend/girlfriend. Imagine having to worry about finding somewhere safe to sleep, how long it will be before your next meal, and how long before the clothes on your back aren’t enough to face the change of season. Not to mention the wear and tear in your clothing that gets worse everyday.

In our busy lives, it’s sometimes hard to find time to reach out to those less fortunate. I bet most of us rarely even think about it. We have our own sh*t to worry about. But if you keep your eyes and ears open, you will discover so many ways in which you can contribute to making this world a safer, and better place.

Teens for Jeans is a campaign dedicated to the donation of pairs of jeans that will go to homeless youths in the U.S., Canada, and Haiti. The drive was started by Justin Long (from Dodgeball) and Ashley Greene (from Twilight) Actors are among the busiest workers out there. If anyone knows about being crunched for time, they do. But Justin and Ashley found time to find a unique way to help, and you can, too. All in just one visit to the mall! We all gotta go there sometime!

Bring those old jeans that don’t fit anymore, or the ones you simply never wear down to AÉROPOSTALE (<– visit the website to find the store closest to you). Obviously, jeans that are donated should not be ripped, or filthy. Duh.

Just throw ‘em in the car, and next time you go shopping, drop them off there. Even if it’s only one pair- THAT pair of jeans will make it to a teenager who’s been abandoned, has no family, or who tried to escape from a life of abuse. You might make a huge difference in keeping them warm, or even just the opportunity to have a clean piece of clothing. :)

Also, check out the Teens for Jeans website to find out how you can start a drive of your own in your community.
