The Way of the Gun and Ryan Phillippe Induced Hard-Ons

This & That

From the writer of the Academy Award winning classic The Usual Suspects, came a little movie in 2000 called The Way of the Gun, starring Ryan Phillippe and Benicio Del Toro.  It follows the story of two professional criminals (Phillippe and Del Toro), who as far as we know, only know each other professionally. The duo get involved in a high stakes scene, and stay in the game because of their pride in their craft and their blinded egos. Then a bunch of crazy shit happens.

The female hard-on that Ryan Phillippe gave teens and tweens of the late 90’s with Cruel Intentions, is similar to the hard-on I got when this movie opened with Phillippe saying, “Shut that c*nt’s mouth before I come over there and f*ck start her head!” and then punching Sarah Silverman in the face.  The hard-on was not brought on by him hitting a woman (No, I am not Ike Turner II), but more because it was Sarah Silverman (I’m just teasing… kind of). I saw this movie in the theaters, and apparently I was one of 12 people in the tri-state area who did the same.  I guess the rest of the population was still boarded up in their homes with powdered water and duct tape in case Y2K decided to come late.

Basically, what I’m saying is this is a pretty badass and unique crime/action/drama flick that will keep you interested.  There is even a scene of an old man playing Russian Roulette with six different guns by himself!  I love it!  I peppered you with a few fun tidbits from the film, and I’m sure you caught the vibe by now.  If you haven’t caught on, then go rent Rush Hour 9 or something…what can I tell you?  This movie is full of realistic twists and turns (think the opposite of M. Night Shamalamadingdong, or whatever that idiot’s name is) and keeps you guessing til the end.  It is original, it is unique, and in my book an underdog of a classic!

If you like solid action flicks that eliminate the cliché and cheese of basically every single Tom Cruise movie, then check out The Way of the Gun.

Ryan Phillippe is meh to me. My female hard-on arose from seeing Benicio del Toro in those tight white jeans. Trust me – many a woman has watched this movie just to look at that.
